Pain & Movement

Most of us will have
experienced physical pain
at some point in our lives

From lower back pain, osteoarthritis, neck pain and migraines, to more complex conditions such as fibromyalgia, IBS and endometriosis, pain slows us down and can stop us completely in our tracks. It can restrict movement, affect our home life, our work life. It doesn’t matter whether it’s acute or chronic, it makes us feel miserable and it can be hard for others to understand just how debilitating it can be.

So, if we can alter the way in which we perceive pain, we experience less inflammation, muscle and joint stiffness and often the need for prescribed medications. We can do more with our families, return to work and regain our quality of life.

A report produced by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) in August 2020 recommended acupuncture as a treatment across all chronic primary pain conditions.

Chronic pain: assessment and management

I’ve suffered from an arthritic condition for the past 20 years and occasional bursitis, for which I would normally have a steroid injection. Because of COVID, this is not advised and on the suggestion of a friend I began to look for an acupuncturist who might be able to help with the pain I was suffering. Fortunately, I found Julie and I can thoroughly recommend her treatment.

I have been seeing Julie over the past 3 years as I suffer with what I call incontrovertible pain in my joints. I tell Julie where the pain is and she works her magic. Understandably the pain doesn’t disappear straight away but after a day or so it goes, helping me to carry on with a bit normality
